19.4.2007, 15:30 Jungiusstr. 11, Hörsaal AP | SFB 668 - Kolloquium Ruslan Temirov (Universität Bremen): Kondo effect by controlled cleavage of a single molecule contactConductance measurements on a molecular wire contacted between an epitaxial molecule-metal bond and a well-defined covalent tip-molecule bond are reported. Controlled movements of the STM tip are used to strain and thus structurally modify the molecule-metal contact. The ensuing gradual de-hybridization of molecular states from metal states tunes the molecular wire smoothly through various transport regimes, including the Kondo regime, in which electron transport is highly correlated. These results prepare the way for the ab initio analysis of Kondo physics in a single molecule and demonstrate a new approach to single molecule experiments with optimized contact control. |
